The organization: The SkillPointe Foundation, a fast-growing non-profit venture, provides vocational scholarships to individuals of all backgrounds pursuing training for high-demand careers not requiring a 4-year degree. The Foundation began awarding scholarships in 2021 and has already raised $4 million to fund 1,000+ scholarships across 50 states. The organization aspires to be the nation’s leading source for skilled trades scholarships.

National Outreach Coordinator, role summary: The Foundation seeks a bright and motivated individual to identify and engage contacts at schools and community/technical colleges who can promote SkillPointe Scholarship programs to potential applicants.

​

The right candidate will be a self-starter, excited to be part of a fast-growing, mission-focused non-profit; able to work remotely and self-direct; comfortable with researching community college contacts (and some high school contacts) then emailing and calling them to promote scholarship opportunities. Contact targets may include guidance and/or career counselors in high schools and community/technical colleges; relevant academic/vocational program chairs or directors; financial aid officers; and instructors and teachers in targeted training paths.

Key roles:

  1. Research strategic contacts (and related contact information) at targeted community/technical colleges (and some high schools) then conduct direct outreach via email, text, and phone to ensure they promote scholarship opportunities to appropriate students.

  2. Track contacts and engagement in a database or spreadsheet.

  3. Identify and contact school communication and/or social media contacts to help with Foundation marketing efforts.

  4. Identify school financial aid or business office contacts as needed.

  5. Serve as an ambassador for SkillPointe Foundation and be an advocate, cheerful promoter, and positive representative for the Foundation and its mission.

  6. Identify and pursue additional opportunities and effective channels to promote scholarship opportunities to targeted students.

  7. Perform other related outreach- or communication-oriented roles.

 

Snapshot of Success:

  1. Direct outreach to application sources and potential applicants yields increased applications for both national and geographically-targeted scholarship programs, leading to greater Sponsor satisfaction and larger applicant data pools for SkillPointe Foundation.

  2. SkillPointe Foundation becomes a trusted, well-liked, and widely-known brand in the vocational scholarship space; schools frequently refer students to SkillPointe Foundation scholarships and view the Foundation positively.

  3. SkillPointe Foundation becomes a major brand and destination for aspiring skilled workers seeking scholarships – and a preferred partner for donors looking to support skilled trades education and careers.

  4. Foundation marketing efforts and back-end payment efforts are facilitated through communication and business contacts (or contact information) at schools.

  5. Relationships between the Foundation and schools are enhanced, and contacts and engagement are appropriately tracked to facilitate future engagement.
